Jon was appointed to the Board of GSK as Chair on 1 September 2019. He brings extensive international financial, life sciences, and governance expertise to his role. Prior to this, he held positions as an Independent Non-Executive Director at HSBC Holdings plc, where he also served as Chairman of the Group Audit Committee and Deputy Group Chairman until his retirement in February 2020. 

Throughout his career, Jon has held notable positions including Chairman of HSBC Bank plc, Chief Financial Officer of Novartis AG, Partner and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, Chief Financial Officer of AstraZeneca plc, and Partner at KPMG. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. 

In addition to his role at GSK, Jon holds external appointments as a Non-Executive Director at Genomics England Limited, where he previously served as Chair, Non-Executive Chair at Energy Aspects, Member of the European Round Table for Industry, and Senior Advisor to Chatham House.
